June 20
Dad got up really early in the morning to drive into Chamonix. I really wanted to see Chamonix, try the croissants and take the gondola up to Mt. Blanc. We reached Chamonix early, but the weather was not in our favor. Definitely 100 percent overcast.
No Mount Blanc for me 😦 , but the bakery was fantastic! Probably the best chocolate croissants ever!
We decided to take care of laundry and try to find French SIM cards for the next week. As luck would have it, there was a laundromat right across from the bakery.
While getting our clothes together, we started cleaning out the very, very disorganized car trunk. Then it started raining! Yay! With our bags outside the trunk we had to work really fast to prevent everything from getting soaked. After that experience, the laundromat was an extremely relaxing place to hang out.
We finished our laundry at 1:00 p.m., and the phone store was taking their two-hour lunch break. We decided to do the same.
We went to a restaurant that specialized in cheese gratins…..I’ll just say they were like French “Snuffer’s” cheese fries! Addictive!!!
After lunch, the store opened and dad bought some data. It’s a lot harder to get data in France then Italy! Dad had to buy the plan separately in a tobacco shop, buy a prepaid cell phone to renew the plan, then activate the data in the mobile phone store.
After all that we finally got on the road to Paris. Our plan is to drive until we get to Paris. The Children’s Chorus Tour will start on the 21st. Off to sing with my friends in Paris.
